Hitachi Construction Machinery History

Hitachi chose Tilburg-based Hovers Constructie NV as the exclusive provider of Hitachi construction equipment throughout the Benelux in 1968. In the 1970s, the business developed a series of domestically developed crawler cranes that were well-received all around the world. Hovers Constructie NV ceased operations in 1972. On April 1, 1972, HCM established HCME as the first foreign branch in order to continue serving existing clientele. In 1981, the firm established a components distribution centre, which was responsible for both the production of locally produced goods as well as the distribution of all HCM products throughout Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Fiat and Hitachi launched a plant machinery manufacturing, distribution, and marketing collaboration in 1986, with the primary purpose of producing a limited range of Hitachi crawler excavators at Fiat's San Mauro, Turin, Italy factory. In the 1990s, HCME enhanced production in Oosterhout by starting to build small excavators, resulting in a trebling of output volumes due to expanded coverage into Russia. Euclid and Hitachi formed a distribution relationship in October 1998. As a result, in April 2000, HMCE opened a new component distribution centre in Oosterhout, allowing it to take over exclusive distribution of Euclid dump truck parts. Hitachi and Fiat declared the end of their joint venture in March 2001.
